XI century fortress created by the Muslims, is located on the rock in the highest part of the town. It played an important role throughout the Middle Ages and Modern, thanks to its strategic location. The earthquakes of 1644 and 1748 and the bombing suffered in 1708 during the War of Succession were to blame for its destruction.
Museum of Salt and Pepper Shakers consists of more than 20000 salt and pepper pots of different forms and themes.
The museum was created to raise awareness of the lifestyle and work of our ancestors in the Vall de Guadalest . The museum is located in a typical house of El Castell de Guadalest eighteenth century, built on the rock, in the old town that was a stronghold of Arab origin, and you get it through a tunnel dug into the rock and whose gate entry is still preserved.
