Pearl of French Reneissance
National domain of Chambord is a huge complex which includes Chateau of Chambord, park and a wildlife sanctuary, with the area over 5 thousand ha, in which the beauty of nature was carefully preserved. Chateau is famous for whiteness of its silhouette and is a masterpiece of French Renaissance. From the beginning of building of the Chateau it was intended to become a great cultural monument and an important part of history. One of the wonders is a unique stairway with two taps which leads to the royal chamber of Francis I. It was designed by Leonardo da Vinci so that two people can go up and do not meet. Here 77 stairways were projected with the goal that numerous mistresses of Francis I will not meet each other and they create a net of labirints.
Francis I, King of France, brought a number of known and talented artists from his Italian crusades, such as Leonardo da Vinci, who later became the architect of the King’s court, and Benvenuto Cellini, who was a sculptor and goldsmith.
Huge reserve near the chateau has extraordinary richness of flora and fauna. You can see deer, wild boar, roe deer, as well as local forest reserve is famous for a large bird population: about 150 species, some of which are listed as rare species. And about 650 species of wild plants.
Entrance to the chateau is free for children up to 18 years, and for EU citizens up to 25 years.
